NEILL COLLINS PREVIEWS BLACKPOOL TRIP

19 April 2024

Our Head Coach provided his thoughts on our trip to face the Tangerines on Saturday in Sky Bet League One.

ON RECENT FIXTURES

"It feels like we've had a lot of games recently that are play-off 'like' or cup final 'like'. Stevenage away, they had to win. They played it like a final then the same the other night against Portsmouth. We've got the same tomorrow. The players, despite not getting the result, have handled it pretty well. Hopefully we can make the most of it tomorrow and turn what have been good performances into three points."

ON POMPEY DEFEAT

"It was like a play-off game the other night. There were so many positives, but it also showed in those environments how two moments can quickly turn the game on its head. From that respect, it was a tough lesson to learn, but one we can hopefully put to good use in the coming weeks. Saturday will be very similar."

ON RECENT RESULTS

"One thing I've learned from my time in the Football League, things can be going really, really well and they can quite quickly turn and vice versa. I think the performance the other night just shows so many things that are really good, the fine margins have just been falling against us. We need to do everything we can to turn those fine margins in our favour."

ON MENTALITY OF THE SQUAD

"The players have done a fantastic job of giving everything right until the final whistle, exactly as you'd expect. But they've really put everything they've had into it, so there's no question regards to the attitude. The effort has been superb. I believe that when everyone does that, things will turn. You've got to learn, and we're working hard in the meanwhile to do that."
