Josh Earl spoke to iFollow Barnsley after the first leg concluded at Oakwell on Friday evening.
The Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat in the opening leg against the Whites, Sam Cosgrove on target for the Reds in the second half to peg back the visitors, but a late goal for Randell Williams gives Bolton the advantage going into the second leg on Tuesday evening.
Earl gave his take on the evening's proceedings at Oakwell:
"I thought we performed well at times," he opened. "I think we've given away two really poor goals. You take that performance. If we'd have not given away two goals, who knows what would have happened. I thought we were the better side at times."
