ADAM PHILLIPS VOTED 23/24 PLAYER OF THE SEASON

29 April 2024

The midfielder picks up the coveted award after another impressive campaign for the Reds.

Adam Phillips is named the 23/24 Player of the Season in association with NG Decor.

Voted for by Reds supporters, Phillips is awarded the accolade for his performances across the campaign, scoring 11 goals and assisting six times for his teammates.

The 26-year-old scored two late goals at Oakwell against Leyton Orient in February to secure all three points for the Reds in dramatic fashion. In his next game at home, 'Phillo' replicated his tally in front of goal with another match-winning brace against Derby County, the pick of the bunch coming via a pinpoint half-volley from the edge of the area.

Sky Bet and the EFL also recognised the midfielder's performances during this period, our man picking up the League's Player of the Month award in February.

He would cap off the regular season with another delightful assist for Herbie Kane in Saturday's draw at Oakwell with Northampton Town.

Phillips saw off competition from John McAtee (runner up) and Maël de Gevigney (3rd place) to win this prestigious award, joining the likes of Neil Redfearn (1993/94), Brian Howard (2006/07) and Alex Mowatt (2019/20) as goalscoring midfield men to be crowned Player of the Season.

"I'm absolutely delighted," Phillips told us, smiling. "It's always nice to be recognised for your performances throughout the season. A massive thank you to all the fans for voting for me personally. It's a great achievement for me and for my family - very, very pleased with the award."
